With over five decades of touring, writing, and recording, the family of bassist Willie J. Campbell releases this album with more than a little help from his friends including nearly 20 featured blues artists. This posthumous album release is the result of Willie J.’s desire to make one last album following a terminal diagnosis of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). His musical friends from all over the nation came together to create a blues album that showcases Willie J.’s expansive talent. With wide-ranging performers from The Fabulous Thunderbirds frontman, Kim Wilson, Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo, his closest friend and guitarist Kid Ramos, and over a dozen more incredible musicians, this album will have you on your feet celebrating the life of Willie J. Campbell.

Willie J. Campbell Missouri

Bassist Willie J. Campbell played with many greats includng The James Harman Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and more. In addition to numerous nominations, he received a BMA for record of the year. Willie J. was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in March of 2022; on December 18 he passed away peacefully at home. His presence will remain in our souls and as Willie J. would say, "Be cool." ... more
